We have an immediate opening for a part time to full-time therapist, in our home-visiting programs for children with autism. This program serves families living in all Southern California Counties, with an emphasis on Riverside and San Diego Counties to start. Primary job responsibilities are to provide empirically based interventions to children with autism and similar disabilities that will facilitate inclusion into the least restrictive environment. Easter Seals programs offers a trans-disciplinary approach and opportunities for cross-training, working with experienced PTs, OTs, S-LPs and other educators. Education:

* Bachelor’s degree in child development, nursing, special education, early childhood special education, pediatric therapy, social work or related field.


Experience:

* Minimum of one year of related professional experience with toddlers and/or school-aged children with autism, and their families.

Plans, implements, supervises and evaluates activities provided in within a specific program areas, such as Character & Leadership Development, Education & Career Development, Health & Life Skills, The Arts, and Sports, Fitness & Recreation.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Prepare Youth for Success
1. Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes:
 promote and stimulate program participation;
 register new members and participate in their club orientation process;
 provide guidance and role modeling to members.
Program Development and Implementation
2. Effectively implement and administer services and activities for drop-in members and visitors.
3. Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of the branch at all times. Prepare periodic activity reports.
Supervision
4. Ensure a productive work environment by participating in staff meetings as required by supervisor or senior staff.
5. Adhere to organizational policies and procedures as described in the organization’s Employee Handbook and elsewhere.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Technology and Education Professional is responsible for organizing and planning educational programs and activities. Individually, and through other staff members and volunteers, develops, coordinates, implements and monitors education and technology-related activities for young people primarily between the ages of 5 and 17. The position requires close interaction with the Technology and Educational Director, Youth Development Professionals and the Site Director.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES:

1. Assist in the planning, organizing and implementation of structured educational programs that incorporate technology into learning, including:

a. Developing lesson and project plans

b. Acquiring and preparing instructional materials.

c. Recruiting participants and placing them into class groups

d. Scheduling classes

e. Communication with parents and families (phone, written communications, and in person)

f. Tracking attendance

g. Documenting class activities and projects

h. Working with staff to ensure effective development and coordination of all of the above

2. Serve as lead instructor for school-age children’s technology-enriched educational programs, including:

a. Teaching classes

b. Troubleshooting software and hardware problems during classes

c. Working with staff to handle interventions to address children’s medical, behavioral, or family crisis issues that arise during class.

3. Assist in the training of other instructional staff, mentors, and volunteers to support teaching and program development activity.

4. Interface with parents to enhance the positive image of the organization, to determine the effectiveness of activities and programs, and to have parents
appropriately reinforce the principles taught at the Club.

5. Preserve the health and safety, and teach other staff members to preserve the health and safety, of all activity and program participants.

6. Help plan and market the services and benefits of our educational program within the community.

7. Research and develop new areas of education/technology emphasis that address the needs of the youth in the community and are consistent with the
goals for the Boys & Girls Club movement.

8. Assist in promoting the education/technology program through public speaking engagements, press releases, brochures/flyers and person-to-person
interactions with school officials, parent’s members and the general public.

9. Understand and enforce the code of conduct adopted by the Boys & Girls Clubs and implement disciplinary action when appropriate.

10. Be available for assistance in other areas of the Club as needed and assigned by the Site Director or Program Director.


SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

• Associates degree in education or technology, or a related field preferred.

• Teaching experience in a nonprofit or K-12 setting.

• Experience with the application of computer technologies to research, data storage, data organization, electronic publishing, and communications
infrastructure.

• Volunteer coordination and recruitment experience preferred.

• Supervising, motivating, counseling, training, decision making, planning, organizing, communication developing and analyzing skills required, as well as
the ability to lead and help other staff members or volunteers lead organized education activities in small and large group settings.

• CPR certificate, First Aid certificate or willing to attain in 60 days and a valid California Drivers License is required.

Programming

1.Oversees and monitors daily programming to ensure staff implements fun, impactful programming that engages the majority of Club Members. Follows
daily schedule and insures that children are in their appropriate group. Post the schedule each day in visible locations. Supervise the “floor” to make certain that all activities, programming, and the overall club environment is functioning smoothly while participants are in attendance.

2.With Site Director assist with Club-wide Program Schedule in accordance with BGC programming blocks ensuring that National Programs are utilized on
a regular basis. Incorporates fresh programmin in the most effective manner to attract Club Members, taking into consideration the needs of the youth served.

3.Plans, delivers and evaluates program blocks per day.

4.Under the Site Director guidance prepares and purchases the program supplies and equipment for programs.

5.Understands and implements the Youth Development Strategy with a focus on the core programs. Assigns a staff representative to represent each of the five BGCA areas.

6. Helps to conduct regular evaluations to determine the effectiveness and value of specific activities and services offered at the Unit.

Partnership Development

1. Individually and through other staff members interface with parents to promote and enhance the image of the various programs at the Unit, specifically, and the Club in general. Work with parents and teachers to appropriately reinforce the principles and behaviors taught at the Club.

Human Resources Management

1.Responsible for volunteer training and management in their support of the various programs at the Unit.


SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

•Two-year degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.

•A minimum of one year work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people, or equivalent experience.

•Demonstrated ability in personnel supervision, facilities management, and the recruitment and retention of key personnel.
